Georgina Fermer

	My paintings evolve out of a slow contemplative process, adjusting colours,shapes and spaces until I am surprised and excited by what is on the canvas. My work is not so much about understanding but rather about feeling. The space is explored, the colours juxtaposed to create a vibrancy of tension, often with a depth of space. Some of the images derive form a direct experience of nature, a particular place or an experience in that place. There are certain motifs that have arisen repeatedly over the years and not always from a conscious choice. It is if from compulsion they come forth demanding expression. Such themes are the horizon, the cross, a chalice shape, caves, mountains, sea, rock and stone.
