Queen Street Gallery is a new venture established by Michael Northey with
the view to bring real contemporary art to the South.
Michael has just taken early retirement from a 35 year career in Advertising
where he worked as a Creative Director for a number of high profile
International Agencies and winning many prestigious awards for his work.
Mike also attained a degree in the history of Art and has had a lifelong
interest in studying and collecting art whenever time allowed and is
now turning what was a once passionate interest into a new way of life.
“ I have always been privileged to work within the realms and
disciplines of film, photography, literature and all the applied arts
throughout my life…so why stop now.”
The gallery consists of 1700 sq.ft. of space that will be dedicated
to named artists from throughout the UK and many prestigious names from
around the globe.
The aim of setting up the main gallery is to exhibit one high end artist
per month, each with very diverse styles and challenging use of media,
this will create a yearly calendar of thought provoking work of very
distinct and original contrasts.
In the small adjoining annex we shall regularly show emerging talents
of the future in the form of a new graduates' work, or a young talented
artist wishing to make a particular strong or controversial statement.
“We wish to establish a reputation as an upmarket but approachable
gallery, challenging… dedicated…different…and with
that distinct and rare trade mark of quality.”
Collectors will be inspired by the work on show but also the pleasant
surroundings that Emsworth has to offer.
Situated in an the Old Flour Mill, a listed landmark building in Queen
Street, the gallery is in the heart of a quant harbour village that
is teaming with heritage and a sailing culture whilst also enjoying
the finest cuisine has to offer in a number of exquisite local restaurants
and bars.
Plus many people from the City have been purchasing second homes in
the area ’for that quieter less stressful lifestyle’, or
just visit for the excellent sailing facilities to be enjoyed throughout
the picturesque Solent, Chichester Harbour area.
The distinctive style of the gallery interior is that of a contemporary
New York loft apartment so clients can feel comfortable and at home,
whilst viewing the best in art and photography, whether figurative,
abstract or landscape.
“The secret of our success will be that… it is not just
the art that is unique…the gallery atmosphere is second to none…
plus the fact although we can sometimes be controversial …we’re
never salacious…and certainly always transparent and professional
in everything we do”
